BMW, the world's famous luxury car maker is planning to launch its crossover compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) BMW X1 in India in 2010 December 23rd. This model is similar to the platform of BMW 3 Series All Wheel Drive (AWD) touring. BMW X1 models will be available in both petrol and diesel variants and it will come with an attractive price tag.
BMW X1 History
BMW X1 production was started in 2009. It has the platform of BMW 3 Series especially BMW E90 and the model is assembled in Leipzig, Germany. The petrol version of BMW X1 is equipped with 1.8L engine and BMW X1 diesel version is equipped with 2.0 L diesel engine. BMW is planning to production of BMW X1 in company's Chennai plant in India.
BMW X1 Specification / Key features / Performance
BMW XI is a All Wheel Drive, that comes with six-cylinder petrol engine, four cylinder petrol engine, four cylinder diesel engine and it has six speed manual transmission. Apart from that it is also equipped with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), auto start stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, gear shift indicator and so on. BMW X1 will have 1995cc engine with four cylinder sixteen valve that can deliver maximum power of 177 BHP @ 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 350 nm at 1750 RMP.
BMW X 1 Exterior / Interior
BMW X1 exterior is compact and attractive at first glance. It has a thoughtful design. A sloping rear windscreen and a short overhang make the car sporty and it has raising lateral lines that delivers a dynamic shape. Its three-eye look headlights and distinctive bonnet are very much impressive and it has the L-shaped tail lights with the flow of horizontal lines in conjunction make the rear broader. On the whole BMW X1 exterior delivers silhouette and elegance.
BMW X 1 interior has ergonomic design. It has a simple, compact and attractive interior as everything is set in a perfect manner. It has a raised seating position that gives a deliberate overview. The available BMW X1 colors are - Black Sapphire, Cashmere Silver, Cashmere Silver, Graphite Blue, Space Grey, Space Grey, Sparkling Bronze, Titanium Silver, Vermilion Red, Deep Sea Blue and Marrakech Brown.

It is expected that BMW X1 may give the mileage between 12 and 14 km/litre in Indian roads.
